Researching the Potential of Museums at Night

San Francisco has great range of 'nightlife' museum experiences that are very popular with millennials. For example, the California Academy of Sciences is open on Thursdays from 6-10pm and a 'new adventure unfolds' at night. They offer glow in the dark 'science' cocktails, food-carts, live music, parties, photo booths, and even offer events like night-time yoga!

The museum of Scotland had an open-late night and included live music, dress ups, and things like a 'silent disco' where people all danced together with their headphones in! They really played with all of the senses in their night-time experience.

Being open at night would create a completely different vibe, families with children would be at home, and there is great potential to do things with light, music, food and drink at this time. There could be star gazing on the top floor where people get taught about the stars with a beautiful night-time view of Wellington Harbour, there could be food-trucks in the big empty area outside the museum entrance,
