Prototyping
Today in class we prototyped our big idea "Te Papa at Night" in the hope of getting an insite into what millennials find a fun and relaxing way to learn.
We prototyped three touch points.
1. An app used to sign up for a quiz night.
We believe that millennials learn best in a collaborative environment. To Verify that, we will create quiz teams through an app that connects people of different areas on knowledge, and measure how comfortable people are being grouped with people they don't know. We are right if people sign up to groups with people they don't know.
Observations
The group of class mates we tested this touch point on felt like it was a lot of admin, and having this many questions before the quiz night makes them feel like they wouldn't want to go to something this organised. They would like it if it was more spontaneous, something that you could just turn up to with out so much preassure. They also felt uncomfortable grouping up with strangers, if they happened to team up when they got there that would be fine, but pre-planning a group is a bit daunting.
2. Quiz night about New Zealand history and culture.
We believe that millennials will learn about New Zealand best in a relaxed way where the learning is disguised as a game. To verify that we are going to run a test quiz to measure whether people are engaged with the type of questions we asked, learnt something and found it fun. We are right if people find it fun and learn something.
Quiz questions
Observations
We ran a test quiz in class and our test participants didn't seem engaged at all, they felt like it seemed like a test and it wasn't fun. They didn't know many of the answers and it wasn't their idea of fun.
They suggested having a screen with the questions and maybe other styles of visual questions such as "what is this a close up of" would make it more fun. They said it just felt like one of those quizzes that you are guilt tripped into going to for a school fundraiser.
3. A photobooth
We believe that a photobooth is a way for people to share their experience and have a tangible memento to remember their expereince. To verify that we will have a photobooth avaliable where you can take a photo with historical figures. We will measure whether people will use it to share photos on social media and if they will enjoy being silly and getting photos taken.
Observations
When doing our prototype test our participants hardly interected with the photobooth, they were too distracted by the quiz that was happening, they said it seemed cool, but this makes us think that the photobooth might be a bit of a gimic and doesn't have much relation to everything else happening in our event.
